The Lincolnshire Coast is relatively
easy to travel to. The location in Central England is ideal for easy
access for most visitors
throughout the U.K. Skegness has a reasonable and reliable Rail link. Visitors are recommended to carefully note rail network times,
and appreciate that because we are not a mainline station, the frequency
of trains may differ to that in City locations.
For visitors arriving by Rail or
Coach, both terminals are located on Richmond Drive (adjacent to the railway station). Ample Taxi
services operate from
this area. There is a regular bus service to Ingoldmells, Chapel St.
Leonards, Sutton on Sea and Mablethorpe. Similar services are available to Lincoln and Boston. Bus time table information an
be obtained by visiting the Stage Coach web site.
Time tables vary in accordance with the holiday
seasons.
For those travelling by car, during the peak season,
to avoid heavy traffic, it is
advisable to arrive in Skegness as early as possible. Large car parking facilities are located at the North end of
the promenade (Seaview Road / North Parade). Other car parks are located
adjacent to Skegness Pier
and at Tower Esplanade (adjacent to the Clock Tower), and at the south
end of Skegness promenade (South Parade). Limited free parking is
available on some local roads. In central Skegness, parking is limited
to varying time scales. There are no on-road parking meters in Skegness.
Coach parking is
located on Richmond Drive, adjacent to the railway station. Useful
travelling information can be obtained by tuning your car radio to Radio
Lincolnshire on 94.9 Mz.
Visitors travelling to Ingoldmells
and Chapel St. Leonards from the South (via Boston) may consider taking
the A16 from Boston rather than the A52 coastal route. Travel to the
Junction of A158, close to the village of Partney. Follow the signposts
to Skegness. At Gunby roundabout (shortly after the village of Candlesby)
take the third exit to Skegness, but keep in the left side lane. This
will filter into rural roads, through the village of Orby and will join
the A52 to the north of Ingoldmells village. This route will avoid the
necessity of travelling through Skegness town centre, which may become
very congested at peak times. This route may also be taken to Skegness,
but access the right hand lane after Gunby roundabout.
The Lincolnshire coastline is not
blessed with the finest roads in the country. Please beware of
occasional sharp bends, in particular on the A52 (Boston to Skegness).
We are frequently requested to forward
information relating to exercising dogs on Skegness beach.
Skegness welcomes responsible visitors with dogs, and the miles of open golden
beach is a haven for exercise to both dogs and owners. If you are reserving
accommodation, please check with the establishment that dogs are
accepted and welcomed. Please note that from 1st May to 30th September,
there are some restricted areas where dogs are not permitted and other
areas where dogs must be kept on a lead. For more information, please
click this link for maps.To
the south, please observe restrictions at Gibraltar Point Nature
Reserve.
