Over a glass of local beer two ex-pupils of the Morris School discovered that they were educated, (if we may use that term) at the same school. Reminiscing of the brilliant days of the 1960's, and discussing some of the mischievous activities that (some) pupils acted out at that time, the discussion created a great desire to learn of what became of both the pupils, and staff who were associated with the school at that time. Discussing the topic further (by this time perhaps the local beer was taking effect), we realised that the year 2001 would represent the 45th birthday of the opening of our school, and that 2001 could be a great year to organise a reunion of all associated. The two in discussion, realised that they were two years apart in terms of school years. In pondering which groups could benefit from such a reunion, it was readily agreed that, taking into consideration age groups, such a reunion should be open to all associated with the Morris school during its lifetime from 1956 until 1986. Knowing very well that there were others with an informal desire to pursue a similar venture, after consuming several more glasses of amber nectar, it was agreed that we should consider the creation of a local steering committee to discuss the viability of such an event. Several local telephone calls produced much enthusiasm, and in May 2000, an initial group comprising: David Beale, met for the first time, and this project burst into life. The group agreed that a re-union should be arranged to take place in October 2001, and that the Internet will be our line of communication to the world. The creation of this site followed in June, 2000, and it is through this media that we hoped to correlate not only a reunion in 2001 but possible future events. The publication remains as a record of the history of the school, a note of the location and lives of its pupils and staff, plus an informal media through which old friends (and enemies !) can reunite and communicate. It is also a tribute to all teaching staff who educated us over this period.
