LCLR 50 - Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th September 2010. - A gala weekend to celebrate 50 years since the opening of the original LCLR at Humberston. It is hoped to have demonstration WD trains and guided tours around our collection.
We will be having our usual passenger trains and a demonstration WD train with WW1 ambulance van, class D bogie van and our WD simplex diesel.

There will also be guided tours of our Heritage rolling stock, including our 5 Simplex diesels, our 0-6-0 Peckett steam loco, the only passenger coach from the Nocton railway system, a coach from the Sand Hutton railway and the Lincolnshire Coast Light Railway Historic Vehicles Trusts collection of trench railway stock.
Tickets are £3 and include tour of works and train rides.
SKEGNESS will host the Royal British Legion’s Welfare Roadshow on September 8, 2010. The Welfare Roadshow, which is touring England, will provide members of the public with an opportunity to find out more about the work of The Royal British Legion and the extensive welfare support it gives to serving and ex-Service personnel and their families.
The Royal British Legion’s County Chairman in Lincolnshire, Tony Goodwin, will be one of the team running the Roadshow, which will be located on Tower Esplanade.
Tony, said: “I am delighted that Skegness has been included in the national tour because East Lindsey has a rich heritage associated with the Armed Forces, particularly the RAF. We look forward to meeting people who want to find out more about the support we provide and also those who want to share their experiences and memories with us.” In Lincolnshire alone, the Royal British Legion provides welfare support to thousands of members of the Armed Forces’ community and their families who find themselves in need at some point in their lives. Leader of East Lindsey District Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson, who has worked closely with The Royal British Legion over the last year, explained: “The Royal British Legion does some amazing work and I am pleased we can welcome the team to our District as part of the prestigious national Welfare Roadshow. This is an opportunity for local people and visitors to meet some of our local Royal British Legion representatives and understand how the work they are doing is significantly improving the lives of those who are in are have been in our Armed Forces and their families.”
The Welfare Roadshow will be open from 10am until 5pm.
