SKEGNESS will host the Royal British Legion’s Welfare Roadshow on September 8, 2010. The Welfare Roadshow, which is touring England, will provide members of the public with an opportunity to find out more about the work of The Royal British Legion and the extensive welfare support it gives to serving and ex-Service personnel and their families.

The Royal British Legion’s County Chairman in Lincolnshire, Tony Goodwin, will be one of the team running the Roadshow, which will be located on Tower Esplanade.

Tony, said: “I am delighted that Skegness has been included in the national tour because East Lindsey has a rich heritage associated with the Armed Forces, particularly the RAF. We look forward to meeting people who want to find out more about the support we provide and also those who want to share their experiences and memories with us.” In Lincolnshire alone, the Royal British Legion provides welfare support to thousands of members of the Armed Forces’ community and their families who find themselves in need at some point in their lives. Leader of East Lindsey District Council, Councillor Doreen Stephenson, who has worked closely with The Royal British Legion over the last year, explained: “The Royal British Legion does some amazing work and I am pleased we can welcome the team to our District as part of the prestigious national Welfare Roadshow. This is an opportunity for local people and visitors to meet some of our local Royal British Legion representatives and understand how the work they are doing is significantly improving the lives of those who are in are have been in our Armed Forces and their families.”

The Welfare Roadshow will be open from 10am until 5pm.
